The preseason is here, and it’s time for new golfers to step up and make their presence felt on the course. With the 2026 season around the corner, understanding the requirements and opportunities available is crucial for anyone looking to start their golfing journey.
To qualify for the upcoming season, new golfers must complete three rounds by the end of January. This requirement ensures that everyone has a established handicap. The more rounds played, the more accurate this handicap will be.
Additionally, events from November to January will offer reduced cash prizes to participants. This provides a great incentive for newcomers to engage in the sport, enjoy their time on the course, and potentially earn rewards for their efforts. Both Super Opens and Preseason Monthlys will provide reduced points to the winners.
Types of Events
During the preseason, there are two main event types: Super Opens and Regular Monthly Events.
Super Opens
Super Opens are net scoring events. Original Golfer's already have their handicap established and will play off of it while new comers will play off of 0.0 until they have 3 rounds entered.
Preseason Monthly Events
Preseason Monthly Events will use the Peoria handicapping system. This system helps create a level playing field, allowing both original and new golfers to compete regardless of established handicap
Membership Requirements
To participate in these exciting events, golfers must have their monthly membership paid through the website. This membership opens doors to events and promotes a sense of community among golfers. For a modest fee, you gain access to coaching tips, event notifications, and a network of supporters.

Preparing for the Season
As the preseason begins, here is what we want to accomplish before January's Tour Series Event:
Understand the Rules: Take time to learn the basic rules of SIG golf. Knowing the etiquette and regulations not only enhances your enjoyment but also helps you feel more confident while playing in regular events.
Establish Handicap: Play golf without too much pressure and get your handicap set for early 2026 when the palms get sweaty on the 3 footers.
Connect with Others: Strike up conversations with fellow golfers, both new and experienced. Engaging with the community creates a supportive environment, enhancing your overall experience.
Earn Points : While some of the seasoned golfers may take the preseason off, you can stack up some early points
Wrapping Up
The preseason is an exciting opportunity for new golfers, providing a unique chance to qualify for the 2026 season while vying for cash prizes. By participating in Super Opens and Regular Monthly Events, newcomers can gain essential experience and build connections within the golfing community.
Make sure to complete your three rounds by the end of January and keep your membership current. With careful preparation and a positive outlook, you are on the right track for a rewarding and enjoyable golf season ahead!
